Prior to transporting children under the age eight (8), you must satisfactorily complete at least a 3-hour training on the proper use and installation of child restraint systems. This training must be provided by instructors certified and approved by the Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety and be repeated every five (5) years. Class does not need to be taken in the county in which you are licensed. The three hour child passenger safety training curriculum is approved by the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety.
C.A.R.S will now be called BEST (Basic Education for Safe Travel) Same Concept, as with C.A.R.S. You will get emailed a video to watch (about 60-90 minutes in length) about 3 days prior to the training date. There will be a quiz at the end and you will have to bring either a screenshot or a print off that EACH participant has completed this the day of class.
You will need to bring a car seat out of your vehicle or from home if you have one (if not, the trainer will have some available) You will be doing a car seat check with your car seat. Class time will take about 60-90 minutes depending on class size.
