More About My Family Child Care:
As a former elementary and kindergarten teacher I use my knowledge and past experiences to create a loving, relaxed, educational environment where each child in my care thrives. I have been doing in home childcare for over 8 years now and was honored as Scott County’s Provider of the Year in 2014.
Over the years I continue to learn and seek out best practices for early childhood education. Through my research and experience I am gradually transforming my childcare program from a teacher led program to a play based program. This change is based on brain development about what young minds need, how they work and how they learn. I stage experiences to allow learning through free play and exploration. I create experiences that allow children to explore, problem solve and cooperate with one another. I guide children in their learning and challenge them through their play. The days in our home include outside play, indoor play, art projects, music and plenty of stories. As a former teacher, I naturally infuse learning into our everyday play as well as having circle time where we focus on early math and reading skills.
I serve healthy homemade lunches with fresh vegetables and fruits daily. We follow a daily routine and I send a daily email to parents each afternoon sharing the activities, lunch menu and your child’s day.
